Wisconsin Deal: Checking Pays 3.05%

Wisconsin quarterWisconsin residents can fuel up their bank accounts with a PowerInterest Checking Account at Community Bank & Trust in Sheboygan, earning 3.05% APY on balances of less than $25,000.

It’s a typical rewards checking account, so you’ll have to meet some basic requirements each month to earn the top rate, which is far higher than anything you’ll find on a nationally available savings or money market account.

The best rate is paid if you make at least 12 signature-based debit card transactions of $10 or more each month, have a direct deposit of at least $200 each month, access online banking at least once a month and sign up for eStatements.

If you do that, you’ll earn 3.05% APY, which is good on balances to $24,999.

Any portion of your balance between $25,000 and $99,999 earns 0.50% APY, while larger balance portions earn 0.25% APY.

On the other hand, if you fail to meet the rewards checking requirements in a particular month, you’ll earn just 0.10% APY.

It takes a minimum deposit of $50 to open an account, but you don’t need to keep a minimum amount set aside to earn interest.

Although Community Bank & Trust is based in Sheboygan, anyone who lives in Wisconsin can open a PowerInterest Checking Account online.

The bank has 11 locations. Most are around Sheboygan, but there are also branches in the Milwaukee area and Appleton.
