Western Deal: 30-Month CD Pays 2.02%

hand holding 100 dollar billsOnce again, an odd term is where it’s at: Spokane Teachers Credit Union has 30-month CD rates for savers in Washington and north Idaho.

It pays 2.02% APY with a $25,000 minimum deposit.

That’s nearly half of a percentage point higher than the top nationally available 36-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

You have to be a member of Spokane Teachers Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the state of Washington or in the northern Idaho counties of Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, Latah or Shoshone, as well as their relatives.

Membership requires a $10 membership fee. Member services told us the $50 share savings account deposit isn’t required when joining to open a CD account, but we’d suggest calling instead of using the online membership application to make sure that happens.

Members can buy these CDs online, over the phone or in person at one of the credit union’s 16 branches in Cheney, Liberty Lake, Newport, Spokane and Spokane Valley, Wash.; and Dalton Gardens, Ponderay and Post Falls, Idaho.

UPDATE 5/20/2014: Spokane Teachers Credit Union has lowered this rate again, to 1.26% APY.
