I went for this promotion, hassel free my ass. not only did they Illegaly apply for a credit card. they charged my account 40.00 in service fees and I still havent seen the $50.00. I put it in on july 15 and it is now it is Oct, 2 WF should change there name to WTF…

I applied for this online, then went into a branch to make the $100 deposit & they had no record of my application on file. Also, the bank manager said there are monthly fees associated with this promotio

seems lame, plus they report the income to the IRS, so it seems worthless. There’s a local bank here in chicago that was offering $50 in gas. BUT you had to pay for checks ($17) and they reported the income to the IRS. It came to about $12 to me in the end. NOT worth my time!

I went to sign up for the promotion and received a choice of 3 checking accounts. I am in California and the basic checking account was not free; it required a minimum monthly balance or automatic monthly transfer.So I called Wells Fargo, and found that this offer for a “Free Checking That’s Really Free” checking account with $50 is not available in CA. Why couldn’t they have put this in the fine print with the other information after the * ?

so I just signed up for this deal in the branch. I didn’t need the mailer, I simply told the guy that I had received the mailer when they did this promo back in may and I wanted to do it now…presto!!! Now the whole no minimum thing…well there is no minimum or charge as long as you set it up with a linked savings account and have a min 25 transferred from checking to savings once a month. The guy said I then take that 25 and send it back to my checking and repeat. So you could have the two accounts with 26 dollars (lol). It was real simple, to open the account and I asked him if i could close it without a fee after i got the 50 and he said sure, there is no fee. I even got in writing that I would get the 50 dollars in the first 30 days. I also got some decent ipod speakers for signing up…not great, but they’re free and i can wreck taking to the beach. not sure if this was specific to my branch or all wells fargo…anyways thats been my experience. The guy was also blown away when i showed him bankaholic.com to verify the promo etc…with all the great deals on here.

I have account with wells fargo for five years and till today ,they are bad they may charge you fees without reason…I keep just 1$ mounthly to keep the account open…Iagree with frances i did have very bad experience with hem…WAMU is good bank since two years Idid have account no even minor problem..even with their struggle today.AND finally this offer is not for every body;

In NY if you open it you have to maintain $1000 or be charged $5 monthly which kind of eats up your $50.

Wells Fargo also charges many fees for their checking account. That extra $50 can be gone in no time. They charge monthly service fees and fees to return your checks. This is NOT a free checking account!

I got a WF mailing met the criterial, used the transfere feature to draw down saving there since grade school.(IKE, DDI),
THAT TIME I DID OPEN IT ONLINE A Wells Fargo) Before Thanksgiving 2007
I seem to recall or imagine Chase limits how often special offers may be exeercised.That is? how the mailed coupon led me for Chase account I opened at Brick&Mortar (other qualificatios too of course)…..
any other comparisons, diferences? other banks terms? ANYONE
