Pennsylvania’s First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union has a top deal on 14-month CD rates as part of its member appreciation certificate special.
It pays 1.20% APY with a $500 deposit of new money.
That beats the top nationally available 12-month CD rates on our CD Rates Leaderboard by a tenth of a percentage point — even with the recent boost from AloStar Bank of Commerce.
You have to be a member of First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit, but anyone in Pennsylvania or New Jersey can qualify for membership by first joining the American Consumer Council.
Membership in the American Consumer Council is free. Joining the credit union requires a $5 deposit in a share savings account.
Members have to buy these special 14-month CDs in person. There are six branches in Pennsylvania, in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Kutztown and Lehighton.
