Tulsa-Area Bank Pays 1.50% On Savings

American Heritage Bank offers this rate with a $100 minimum deposit.Residents in the Tulsa, Okla., area can sign up for a savings account that pays a fifth of a percentage point better than the best nationally available rate.

American Heritage Bank (, headquartered in suburban Sapulpa, Okla., pays 1.50% APY for its All American Savings account.

It only takes a $100 minimum deposit to open an account, but there are a few restrictions.

You must make a minimum $25 monthly automatic transfer to your savings account from an American Heritage checking account, and you can only make six withdrawals per quarter for free.

If you go over that limit you’ll be charged $1 per withdrawal, unless you keep $1,500 in your account.

Those requirements seem minor in light of today’s sinking rates for most savings and money market accounts.

The community bank has 15 locations to serve residents in Tulsa and the surrounding area. You can apply for an account online, but you must complete the application process by stopping by a branch.

If you don’t live near Tulsa, your best bet is UFB Direct’s savings rate of 1.30% APY. You’ll also earn free airline miles when you open an account, and again when you leave it open for a year.

You need to make a minimum $100 deposit to open an account at UFB Direct (, which is a division of Bank of Internet USA, with headquarters in San Diego.

You can compare these deals to see how they stack up to the best money market and savings account rates from scores of banks in our database.
