Top 3-Month CD Rates Just Under 1%

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank hasn’t budged since it captured the lead in our rankings of the best nationally available CD rates on Nov. 11.

That’s two-tenths of a point more than anyone else because the next best rates offered at the time that Sanibel Captiva took the lead have all disappeared. Some banks lowered their rates a little, while others fell off the charts completely.

Four banks are now paying 0.75% APY:

Goldwater Bank requires a minimum deposit of $10,000. It has a single location in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Hudson City Savings Bank requires a minimum deposit of $5,000. This East Coast bank has 130 branches in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.

Nexity Bank requires a minimum deposit of $1,000. It is an online bank headquartered in Birmingham, Ala.

VirtualBank requires a minimum deposit of $10,000. This online bank is a Division of Lydian Private Bank, based in Palm Beach, Fla.

Two banks are paying 0.70% APY:

MetLife Bank requires a minimum deposit of $25,000. This online bank is owned by the insurance giant.

OneWest Bank requires a minimum deposit of $1,000. It has 82 locations in Southern California.

These banks qualify for our rankings by imposing no restrictions on who can buy their CDs either online or through the mail.
