Greater Texas Federal Credit Union offers its top rates with a $1,000 minimum deposit.Greater Texas Federal Credit Union has long-term CD rates that are worthy of our CD Rates Leaderboard.

With a $1,000 minimum deposit, it’s paying:

  • 1.61% APY for 36-month CDs.
  • 1.71% APY for 42-month CDs.
  • 1.86% APY for 48-month CDs.
  • 2.11% APY for 60-month CDs.

Considering that nationally available 36-month CD rates top out at 1.55% APY, and 60-month CD rates at 1.95%, those are pretty good rates for these times.

You have to be a member of Greater Texas Federal Credit Union to buy its certificates of deposit.

Membership is available to those who live, work, worship or attend school in Bastrop, Bryan, College Station and northwest and southeast San Antonio as well as in central Harris County, Hays County, central Hidalgo County, portions of Dallas and Tarrant counties, and central or south Travis County.

Members’ family and household members may also join, as can employees of the credit union’s select employer groups. An extensive list is on the website.

Membership requires a $5 deposit in a savings account.

Members can buy CDs over the phone or in person at one of Greater Texas Federal Credit Union’s 16 branches.

    All of these rates have dropped:
    36-month to 1.41% APY.
    42-month to 1.51% APY.
    48-month to 1.71% APY.
    60-month to 2.02% APY.
