Top 60-month CD rates, this time for savers in the Rio Grande Valley, are available from Security First Credit Union.

It pays 2.33% APY with a minimum deposit of $1,000.

That’s more than half of a percentage point higher than the best nationally available 60-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

The rate even increases slightly with minimum deposits of $5,000.01, $10,000.01, $20,0000.01 and $50,0000, topping out at 2.43% APY.

You have to be a member of Security First Credit Union to purchase these certificates of deposit.

Membership is available to those who live, work, worship or study in the four counties that comprise the Rio Grande Valley: Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Willacy.

Membership at Security First Credit Union requires a $5 deposit in a share savings account.

Members can buy CDs online, over the phone or in person at one of 16 branches throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

    Security First has dropped these 60-month CD rates to 1.97% APY with deposits of $1,000 to $5,000. Rates rise to 2.07% with the largest minimum deposit.
