Texas CU Offers Smokin’ CD Rates

ArmyNavy Community Credit Union offers top CD rates in multiple terms.NavyArmy Community Credit Union has quite a few great CD rates for its 90,000 southern Texas members, but its one odd-term rate is the way to go.

It’s paying 2.25% APY for 30-month CDs with a $1,000 minimum deposit.

That’s nearly three-quarters of a percentage point higher than the top 36-month deal on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

With that same $1,000 minimum deposit, it’s also paying:

  • 1.00% APY for 3-month CDs.
  • 1.10% APY for 6-month CDs.
  • 1.35% APY for 12-month CDs.
  • 1.75% APY for 24-month CDs.

Those CD rates beat their team leaders by a range of a fifth to nearly half of a percentage point.

NavyArmy also has an impressive rewards checking account that pays 3.51% APY on balances of up to $25,000. Any portion of your balance above that pays 1.01% APY.

You’ll have to fulfill some typical rewards checking obligations — like making 10 debit card purchases in a given month — to earn this yield.

You have to be a member of NavyArmy Community Credit Union to open this checking account or buy these certificates of deposit.

Membership is available to anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in the Texas counties of Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces and San Patricio.

Membership requires a $15 membership fee and a $25 deposit in a savings account.

Members can buy CDs online, over the phone or in person. NavyArmy has 10 branches in Beeville, Corpus Christi, Kingsville, Portland and Rockport.

NavyArmy is no longer offering the 30-month CD, though it does have a 36-month CD paying 1.75% APY. Its other current rates with $1,000 minimum are:
    3 month = 0.60% APY
    6 month = 1.10% APY
    12 month = 1.15% APY
    24 month = 1.40% APY
