Texas CD Rates Deal Keeps Getting Better

GECU offers these deals with a $1,000 minimum deposit. But wait, there’s more.

Earlier this month, we wrote about local CD rates deals we highlighted that look even better after banks hiked their rates.

We’ve found another offer that has improved with time: a 60-month CD rates deal almost a third of a point better than the top nationally available rate.

In fact, El Paso-based GECU has increased three rates that were already better than the top deals on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

With a $1,000 minimum deposit, it’s paying:

  • 2.51% APY for 30-month CDs (up 5 basis points from March).
  • 2.50% APY for 36-month CDs (up 5 basis points).
  • 3.25% APY for 60-month CDs (up 15 basis points).

It’s also paying 1.66% for 18-month CDs.

You must be a member of GECU (formerly known as Government Employees Credit Union) to purchase these certificates of deposit.

Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in El Paso County or in Doña Ana County not more than 25 miles from the El Paso branch at 1500 N. Resler St.

Members can buy CDs over the phone or at one of GECU’s 10 branches in El Paso and Socorro.

Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of other banks in our database.
