Texas CD Rates Deal Available Nationwide

University Federal Credit Union offers its certificates of deposit to anyone who joins the credit union.University Federal Credit Union’s more than 150,000 Longhorn members should steer themselves toward its long-term CD rates.

But you don’t have to be a University of Texas alum or even live in the Lone Star State to take advantage of its CD rates. These deals are open to anyone.

With a $2,500 minimum deposit, the Austin, Texas-based credit union is paying:

  • 2.08% APY for 36-month CDs.
  • 2.27% APY for 48-month CDs.
  • 2.83% APY for 60-month CDs.

Not only do these Web-only rates beat the top nationally available CD rates for their corresponding terms on our CD Rates Leaderboard, they match the credit union’s premium rates for members with premium checking or money market premium accounts.

You must be a member of University Federal Credit Union ( to buy these certificates of deposit. Membership is available to employees, students and members of employers, schools and associations listed on the website.

You can also become a member by joining the University of Texas Longhorn Foundation. This requires a one-time $20 fee, and the application is also available on the credit union’s website.

University Federal Credit Union has 14 branches in Austin, Cedar Park, Galveston, Lakeway, Round Rock and Taylor, but these CD rates are only available if members buy their CDs online.
