SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union Earns Average Grades On Its CD Rates

It earns average grades on its CD rates.SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, one of the nation’s largest educational credit unions, claims 380,000 members in southern California.

With 28 branches and seven express centers, it may as well be a big bank, which is perhaps why its CD rates resemble those we might find at one.

Sure, they beat the average rates that large banks and thrifts are currently offering. But as I’ve said before (many times), that’s nothing to brag about.

There are much better rates on the CD Rates Leaderboard.

Take a gander at what you’ll get at SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union with a $500 minimum deposit:

3-month CD rate is 0.25% APY versus an average rate of 0.15% APY. (Leaderboard leader is 0.60% APY.)

6-month CD rate is 0.30% APY versus an average rate of 0.22% APY. (Leaderboard leader is 0.85% APY.)

12-month CD rate is 0.35% APY versus an average rate of 0.34% APY. (Leaderboard leader is 1.15% APY.)

24-month CD rate is 0.55% APY versus an average rate of 0.52% APY. (Leaderboard leader is 1.26% APY.)

36-month CD rate is 0.85% APY versus an average rate of 0.70% APY. (Leaderboard leader is 1.55% APY.)

60-month CD rate is 1.35% APY versus an average rate of 1.16% APY. (Leaderboard leader is 1.95% APY.)
