Review: Golden 1 Credit Union CD Rates

Golden 1 Credit Union logoGolden 1 Credit Union’s more than 630,000 members should go long if they want the best CD rates at California’s second-largest credit union.

At 1.05% APY, its 60-month CD beats the term’s current average annual yield of 0.78% APY by more than a quarter of a percentage point.

A minimum deposit of $1,000 is required for that rate, which rises to 1.10% APY with a deposit of $50,000 or more.

Of course, the 60-month leader on our CD Rates Leaderboard pays a significantly higher 1.80% APY.

If you already have a relationship with Golden 1, you might think it’s simply easier to buy a CD there rather than seek a higher-paying alternative.

There’s no shame in that, especially when rates are this low.

Over 5 years, you’d earn just $39 more on a $1,000 deposit if you bought the best nationally available CD and passed on Golden 1’s offer, according to our CD calculator.

Headquartered in Sacramento, Golden 1 Credit Union is the seventh-largest credit union in the United States.

The credit union’s other CD rates that are at or above average with a $1,000 minimum deposit:

3-month CD rate is 0.10% APY, which matches the average rate. (Leaderboard leader is 0.46% APY.)

6-month CD rate is 0.15% APY, which matches the average rate. (Leaderboard leader is 0.88% APY.)

36-month CD rate is 0.50% APY versus an average rate of 0.47% APY. (Leaderboard leader is 1.50% APY.)
