Rates Gusher Comes In For Texas Savers

Heads up, east Texans: Mobiloil Federal Credit Union has a slew of enviable CD rates for its 40,000 members.

With a $1,000 minimum deposit, it pays:

  • 1.76% APY for 36-month CDs
  • 2.12% APY for 48-month CDs
  • 2.53% APY for 60-month CDs

Those 36- and 60-month rates each beat the top nationally available returns for their terms on our CD Rates Leaderboard by more than a quarter of a percentage point.

The credit union also offers two “bump rate” CDs, which pay a tad less – still above Leaderboard – but allow you to raise your rate once during the term with a $1,000 minimum deposit:

  • 1.66% APY for 36-month CDs
  • 2.38% APY for 60-month CDs

You have to be a member of Mobiloil Federal Credit Union to purchase these certificates of deposit. Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton or Orange counties is eligible to join, as are current members’ family members.

Membership requires a $25 deposit in a share savings account.

Members have to buy CDs in person at one of the credit union’s seven branches in Beaumont, Jasper, Lumberton, Nederland and Silsbee.
