Rare San Francisco Deal On CD Rates

Golden Gate BridgeSan Francisco Federal Credit Union has solid promotional 10-month CD rates for savers in the City by the Bay.

It pays 1.00% APY for deposits between $1,000 and $100,000.

Plus, you can bump up the rate once during the term.

That beats the top nationally available 6-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard, which is currently 0.87% APY, and nearly reaches the 1.10% APY leader E-Loan is offering for 12-month CDs.

So, not the greatest deal we’ve ever featured, but a big deal all the same.

See, the Bay Area isn’t known for having fantastic CD rates.

Exactly how bad are they? Just five of the 25 cities we measure for our weekly survey have lower average CD rates than San Francisco.

This 10-month promotional CD is set to expire Oct. 31.

You have to be a member of San Francisco Federal Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit. Membership is open to those who live, work or attend school in San Francisco and San Mateo counties or who are immediate family members of a current credit union member.

Membership requires a $5 deposit in a share savings account.

Members can buy CDs online or in person at one of San Francisco Federal Credit Union’s four branches in San Francisco.
