PNC: $100 To Switch Checking Accounts

You'll have to maintain a monthly minimum balance to keep this account free.PNC Bank isn’t exactly enticing people to switch to a free checking account, but it is offering you a $100 bonus to move your money to its Performance Spend account.

Now, this can be a free checking account, you’ll just have to maintain a minimum balance.

To keep this a free checking account, you need one of three things: a $1,500 average monthly balance, monthly direct deposits of $2,000 or more, or a combined $10,000 balance between PNC accounts, which could include this account, savings account, money market, line of credit, mortgage, investment accounts or auto or home equity installment loan.

If not, you’ll be charged $10 a month for the account. That monthly fee is even more than Citibank plans to charge for its basic checking account.

To get the $100, you must open the account by Dec. 31, and then, within 60 days of opening the account, have a direct deposit of at least $750 made into the account and make 10 purchases with your PNC Bank Visa Check Card.

This deal is only good for residents of Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C. You must open the account through the online application.

With this account, PNC won’t charge you for use of other banks’ ATMs, and it will reimburse other banks’ surcharge fees up to $8 per month.

Don’t meet the requirements? You can still open a free online checking account with PNC. No minimum balance requirements necessary.
