Oklahoma Deal On Combo CD Rates Buy

SpiritBank is offering this deal with a $5,000 minimum deposit.A Tulsa-based bank has an interesting deal on CD rates when Oklahoma savers buy a two-CD combination.

With a $2,500 minimum deposit on each CD, SpiritBank pays:

  • 0.90% APY on an 11-month CD.
  • 1.90% APY on a 26-month CD.

But you must buy both CDs to earn these rates.

Now, the 11-month CD is nothing great.

In fact, it pays more than a third of a percentage point less than you’ll earn with the top nationally available 12-month CDs on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

But the 26-month CD is four-tenths of a percentage point more than you’ll earn with the top nationally available 24-month CD. It matches what you’d earn with the top 36-month CD on our Leaderboard.

Unfortunately, you can’t buy the 11-month for the minimum and put more money in the 26-month CD. They must be purchased for equal amounts.

SpiritBank (www.spiritbank.com) also offers a 30-month CD that pays 1.90%, equaling the top nationally available 36-month CD. This CD special requires a $5,000 minimum deposit.

To purchase any of SpiritBank’s CDs, you must live in Oklahoma and visit one of the banks locations in Bristow, Cushing, Drumright, Edmond, Oilton, Oklahoma City, Sapula, Stillwater, Stroud or Tulsa.

Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of banks in our extensive database.

Although, if I lived in OK, I’d pass on this, I like to see creativity in bank CD offerings. It lightens up the otherwise agonizing dirge of ever-lower rates. Now that Uncle Ben has flattened the yield curve so much that it no longer makes financial sense for lenders to make loans, I wonder where he’ll go from here.
