General Electric Credit Union offers its top CD rates with a $500 minimum deposit.General Electric Credit Union’s 60-month CD rates easily beat the top nationally available rates – and membership is open to just about anyone in the Cincinnati area.

It pays 2.33% APY with a $500 minimum deposit.

That’s more than a third of a percentage point higher than the top nationally available 60-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

It’s also among the best 60-month credit union CD rates available, according to our chart of the highest CD rates from credit unions and local banks.

But you have to be a member of General Electric Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit.

Membership is available to those who live, work, worship or attend school in the Ohio counties of Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fayette, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Montgomery, Preble and Warren; and the Kentucky counties of Boone, Campbell and Kenton.

Employees and pensioners of General Electric Company in the greater Cincinnati area and the General Electric Company Aircraft Engine Division can join, as can members of the credit union’s 325 select employer groups and the churches, schools and health care providers specified on the website.

Members’ immediate family and household members are also eligible for membership, which requires a $5 deposit in a share savings account.

Members can buy CDs over the phone if funds are available in their account, by mail or in person at a branch.

Branches are in Cincinnati, Fairfield, Loveland and Mason, Ohio; and in Madisonville, Ky.
