Odd-Term CD Rates Are Regions’ Best

The only consistent – and best – CD rates at Regions Bank are its special relationship rates.

Birmingham bank offers its CDs with a $500 minimum depositIn all 16 states the bank serves across the South and Midwest, the bank is offering the following odd-term deals:

  • 14-month CDs for 1.25% APY, versus an average rate of 0.47% APY offered by large banks and thrifts for 12-month CDs.
  • 34- or 35-month CDs for 1.70% APY, versus an average rate of 1.04% APY for 36-month CDs.
  • 54-month CDs for 2.10% APY, versus an average rate of 1.71% APY for 60-month CDs.

Whether you should bother with Regions’ standard term certificates of deposit depends on where you live. Those CD rates vary greatly by state.

The lowest rates are too low to consider. We’re talking 0.03% APY for 3-month CDs.

The best rates are at least above the average annual yields offered by large banks and thrifts, although not nearly as good as what you’ll find on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

Here’s the best we found by searching a ZIP code from each state on Regions’ website:

  • 0.40% APY for 6-month CDs in Mississippi, versus an average rate of 0.29% APY.
  • 0.60% APY for 12-month CDs in Illinois, Louisiana and Mississippi, versus an average rate of 0.47% APY.
  • 1.10% APY for 24-month CDs in Louisiana, versus an average rate of 0.72% APY.
  • 1.30% APY for 36-month CDs in Louisiana, versus an average rate of 1.04% APY.
  • 2.00% APY for 60-month CDs in Louisiana, versus an average rate of 1.71% APY.
