Oakland CD Special Beats National Rates

As I wrote earlier this month, California CD deals are exceptionally hard to come by.

After an extensive search of almost a hundred Golden State credit unions, I could only turn up one that offered certificate yields above the best national returns.

That’s why I was so excited to discover a new Bay area deal this week.

Paying 2.00% APY on a 3-year certificate, 1st United Services Credit Union is matching the best nationally available 4-year return from the banks on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

It also earns 1st United Services a spot in our constantly updated roundup of the country’s best credit union and community bank CDs.

The promotional 36-month certificate requires a $1,000 minimum investment and carries an early-withdrawal penalty of 6 months’ interest.

Serving Oakland and the surrounding area, membership is open to all who live or work in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Joining the credit union can be done either online or at one of its eight branches, while opening a CD can additionally be accomplished by phone.

But don’t forget … Before locking in any certificate of deposit, it’s always prudent to check the latest results in Bankrate’s extensive database of the best CD rates in the country.

Don't miss out on the next bank deal. Get the newest deals delivered straight to your inbox!
