Northwest Deal: $300 Checking Bonus

HomeStreet Bank offers this bonus for signing up for a checking account and using some of its services.HomeStreet Bank in Seattle is offering one of the biggest bank perks we’ve seen in some time. It pays customers up to $300 to open and use a checking account.

Your opportunity to earn cash applies whether you open a free checking account or one that has fees if you don’t meet certain requirements but pays interest.

Here’s how the deal breaks down:

  • With a Free, Deluxe or Premium Checking account, you get $100 just for setting up direct deposit.
  • Sign up for eStatements and receive $20 more.
  • Use your Visa check card, and you earn $2 per purchase, up to $80.
  • Make an online bill payment and receive $15 per payment, up to $75.
  • Hand over your old checks and debit card, and you can get $15 for your check card and $2 per pad of checks, up to $10.

The Free Checking account has no minimum balance requirement, and no charge for using your check card. You only need to make a $100 deposit to open the account.

The interest you earn on the other accounts may vary by your location. The community bank (www.homestreet.com) has 31 branches in Washington, Oregon and Hawaii.

If you’re in Seattle, a Deluxe Checking account pays 0.20% APY and there are no fees if you have direct deposit or keep at least $500 in your account. You need $100 to open an account.

The rates paid on a Premier Checking account vary based on your balance.

It takes $2,500 to open an account, and there are no fees if you keep at least that much in your account. Balances up to $2,499 earn 0.20% APY. Balances of $2,500 to $9,999 earn 0.35% APY, and balances above that amount earn 0.45% APY.

There’s even a special offer for those who don’t have a checking account. The Bank On checking account only requires a $50 minimum deposit to open and has no minimum balance requirements, monthly service charges or debit card charges.

If you open a Bank On account, complete a certified financial education course and keep a positive balance in your account for at least three months, HomeStreet will give you $100.

You must stop by a branch to open any of the checking accounts.
