Although several banks are currently rubbing elbows in offering the top national 1-year CDs, no saver can be hurt by more options. So here’s a new one …

Alden Credit Union is offering nationally available 1-year certificates paying 1.26% APY on a $1,000 minimum investment.

It’s the same rate that tops our CD Rates Leaderboard of nationally available bank certificates, offered by four co-leading banks. The lowest minimum deposit from those four is $1,500.

Take a look at Bankrate’s extensive database of the day’s best CD rates, and you’ll see 1.26% APY is a tough yield to beat right now.

Alden is based in Chicopee, Massachusetts. But beyond serving Hampden and Hampshire counties, it also makes membership available to anyone willing to join the American Consumer Council, a nonprofit focused on consumer education.

Joining via the ACC is an easy proposition, as Alden will both process the application to ACC and pay the necessary dues on your behalf, all at the same time as you complete your Alden application.

Joining the credit union and opening its certificates of deposit can be done online or at either of its Chicopee branches.
