National Deal: 5-Year CD Pays 2.10%

Woman holding a piggy bank with her right handSavers in all 50 states can take advantage of an online 60-month CD special at American Heritage Federal Credit Union in Philadelphia.

It pays 2.10% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit.

That’s a bit better than the top bank deal on our CD Rates Leaderboard, which recently fell to 2.05% APY.

That’s the yield you’ll earn if you try to purchase one of these CDs at a branch. No reason to sacrifice earnings by traveling, particularly if you’re out of state.

You have to be a member of American Heritage Federal Credit Union, which has 30 branches in Pennsylvania’s Bucks, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, to purchase these certificates of deposit.

Anyone can join by first donating $15 to the Kids-N-Hope Foundation, which is the credit union’s charitable organization. You can elect to make the donation as part of the membership process.

But you don’t have to take this step if you live, work, worship or attend school in Philadelphia or a designated development area, are a family or household member of a current or eligible member, or are employed by one of the credit union’s more than 700 sponsor companies.

Lists of those designated development areas and sponsor companies are on the website.

Membership requires a $15 deposit in a share savings account.
