Midwestern Deal On Savings, Checking

pink piggy bankMissouri and Kansas residents can land a savings account at the Bank of Weston that pays a bit better than the best nationally available deal.

With a Kasasa Saver account from Bank of Weston, based in Weston, Mo., you can earn 1.01% APY on balances to $15,000.

You’ll have to pair it with a Kasasa Cash rewards checking account, and that pays 1.51% APY on balances up to $15,000.

The first step is to open the checking account, which requires just a $100 minimum deposit. Then you’ll need to make at least 10 debit card purchases each month, have one direct deposit or one automatic payment per month, and receive eStatements.

If you do those things, you’ll earn the highest rate on both accounts.

You’ll also have up to $25 in ATM fees reimbursed each month. For both accounts, you’ll earn 0.25% APY for balance portions above $15,000. If you don’t meet the monthly requirements in a certain month, you’ll earn only 0.05% APY.

The Kasasa Saver account requires a $100 minimum deposit to open. With both accounts, you pay no monthly service fees and aren’t required to keep a certain amount in the accounts to earn interest.

Two banks offer the best nationally available savings rate of 1.00% APY.

Bank of Weston has four locations, including two in Kansas City. You can stop by a branch to open your accounts or open them online.

The accounts are available if you live in Missouri or Kansas.
