Miami CU Offers Top Short-Term CD Rates

Miami Postal Service Credit Union pays 1.26% APY on its 9-month super jumbo CD.Miami Postal Service Credit Union has several CD rates that top any local deals we can find in the sunshine state.

For starters, it pays 1.00% APY with a $5,000 minimum deposit for its 9-month jumbo CD and 1.26% APY with a $25,000 minimum deposit for its 9-month super-jumbo CD.

That super-jumbo rate is as good as the best nationally available 24-month CD rates on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

Not bad for a short-term CD these days.

Miami Postal Service Credit Union also pays 2.02% APY for 60-month CDs with a $1,000 minimum deposit.

That just beats that term’s top nationally available CD rate, which has been stuck at 1.95% APY since the beginning of the year.

You have to be a member of Miami Postal Service Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works or worships within a 15-mile radius of one of the credit union’s three branches.

Those are at 2190 NW 72 Ave. in Miami, 6171 NW 183rd St. in Hialeah, and 12685 S. Dixie Highway in Pinecrest. You can find a map of the eligible area on the website.

Membership is also open to postal employees and retirees, employees of the federal government and their families, and employees of various businesses in Miami Dade and Broward counties.

Membership requires a $5 deposit in a savings account, and members have to visit a branch to buy a CD.
