Alden Credit Union in Massachusetts has special 21-month CD rates that are already good, but allow you take advantage of better rates that hopefully are down the road.
It’s paying 1.50% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit.
That’s a fifth of a percentage point higher than the top nationally available 24-month CD rates on our CD Rates Leaderboard — and you can increase your rate once during the term.
But you have to be a member of Alden Credit Union (www.aldencu.com) to buy these certificates of deposit. Membership is limited to those who live, work, worship or go to school in Hampden and Hampshire counties, as well as members’ family members.
Membership requires a $25 deposit in a savings account.
You need to buy these CDs in person. Alden Credit Union has a single office, at 710 Grattan St. in Chicopee, north of Springfield.
These special rates are good through the end of the year.
