MainStreet Holds On To Top 2-Year CD

Thanks to MainStreet Bank, the top 24-month CD rates have remained unchanged since mid-July.

MainStreet, which has four branches in northern Virginia, continues to offer 1.50% APY with a $500 minimum deposit through its airbanking website (www.airbanking.com).

That’s well above the 0.59% average annual yield that large banks and thrifts are paying.

And it’s a tenth of a percentage point higher than any of the other rates we’re tracking for the CD Rates Leaderboard.

The other top banks in the term are:

Aurora Bank (www.aurorabankfsb.com), with branches in Wilmington, Del., and Jersey City, N.J. It pays 1.39% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit.

Goldwater Bank (www.goldwaterbank.com), with a single office in Scottsdale, Ariz.. It pays 1.38% APY with a $5,000 minimum deposit.
