First Federal Credit Union has a trio of decent CD rates for its members in eastern Iowa.
With a $10,000 minimum deposit, it pays:
- 2.16% APY for 60-month CDs.
- 2.01% APY for 48-month CDs.
- 1.51% APY for 36-month CDs.
That 60-month CD rate is more than a third of a percentage point higher than its term leader on our CD Rates Leaderboard.
You can invest with less, but you’ll earn less.
For example, that 5-year rate drops to 1.91% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit – which is still above-Leaderboard.
You have to be a member of First Federal Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit. Anyone who lives or works in Linn County, which includes Cedar Rapids, can join, as can members’ relatives.
Membership in First Federal Credit Union requires a $5 deposit in a share savings account.
Members can purchase CDs over the phone or in person at one of the credit union’s two locations in Cedar Rapids and Hiawatha.
