ING Joins Leaders In 12-Month CD Rates

A new offer from ING Direct has claimed a top spot in our rankings of the best, nationally-available 12-month CD rates.

The American online bank of the Dutch financial giant ING is paying 2.10% APY with no minimum deposit.

The online operation of the Dutch financial giant is paying 2.10% APY with no minimum deposit.Although that’s not quite as good as the 2.25% APY available MetLife Bank, you have to invest at least $25,000 to qualify for that rate.

New South Federal Savings Bank, based in Birmingham, Ala., rounds out the top three, paying a similar 2.10% APY with a $1,000 minimum.

Deposits in ING Direct are FDIC insured and you can buy a certificate of deposit online. The interest can be paid monthly and deposited in a checking or savings account at any bank.

    ING is offering 2.25% on 12 month CDs if you fund them from an external account.

    It seems like this is the first time in almost a year that ING has offered competitive CD rates

    Thanks, Mike! You’re right. ING Direct just introduced “The Added Value CD” that pays 2.25% when funded from an outside source. That’s an even better deal!

    ING Direct does not allow beneficiary on their online account.
