Indiana Deal On 34-, 60-Month CD Rates

Beacon Credit Union pays 2.11% on 34-month CDs and 2.72% on 60-month CDs.The top nationally available 36-month CD rates now pay less than 2%.

But if you live in Indiana, there’s a special deal that pays almost a quarter point better than the top 3-year certificate of deposit on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

Beacon Credit Union ( is paying 2.11% APY on its special 34-month CD with a $10,000 minimum deposit.

Compare that with the top nationally available CD rate of 1.90% APY offered by Virgina’s MainStreet Bank.

The Beacon Credit Union deal isn’t quite as good as the 2.21% APY we wrote about in January. But in this rate environment, cutting a deal by just a tenth of a percentage point over eight months is a pretty big victory for savers.

Beacon CU also is offering 60-month CD rates that beat the best nationally available deal of 2.50% APY, also offered by MainStreet.

It’s paying 2.72% APY with a $2,500 minimum deposit.

That’s among the best 60-month CD rates we’ve seen recently.

You also can find top 5-year CD rates in Texas and at Melrose Credit Union in New York.

To purchase CDs from Beacon Credit Union, you must be a member and you must open your account in person at one of its 20 branches.

Membership is limited to those who live and work in the Indiana counties of Allen, Blackford, Carroll, Cass, DeKalb, Fulton, Grant, Howard, Huntington, Kosciusko, Pulaski, Madison, Marshall, Miami, Steuben, Wabash, White and Whitley. A $25 deposit in a savings account is required to join.

The slightly lower rates mentioned in the previous comment are still offered.
