Idaho: Top 60-Month CD Pays 2%

Idaho quarterWe don’t write about deals in the Gem State often, but it’s hard to ignore Idaho Central Credit Union’s 60-month CD rates.

It pays 2.00% APY with a $500 minimum deposit.

If that wasn’t good enough, this is one of the credit union’s Freedom CDs, which allow you to raise the rate once during the term should interest rates increase.

That easily beats the top nationally available 60-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard, where the term’s current leader pays just 1.75% APY.

In addition, at 1.30% APY, the credit union’s 24-month online CD is a bit higher than the term leader.

You have to be a member of Idaho Central Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit. Just about anyone who lives in Idaho can become a member; an extensive eligibility list is on the website.

But generally, membership is available to employees of the state of Idaho as well as other public employees, members of any other credit union in the state and family members. People who reside, work or are paid just across the state line in Jackpot, Nev., can also join.

Membership requires a $5 membership fee and a $25 deposit in a savings account.

Members can buy CDs online, over the phone or in person at one of Idaho Central Credit Union’s 21 branches.

Those are in Blackfoot, Boise, Burley, Caldwell, Chubbuck, Eagle, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Nampa, Pocatello and Twin Falls.
