Hurry To Grab This Chevron FCU CD Deal

Chevron Federal Credit Union is offering one of today’s top CD rates to eligible savers who can act quickly.

The Oakland, California-based credit union is paying 1.35% APY on special 15-month share certificates, with just a $500 minimum deposit.

But the offer expires March 20 – or sooner if Chevron reaches its promotion limit.

This beats the top nationally available return for 24-month CDs on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

In addition to this promotional CD, Chevron offers a leading rate of 0.80% on its standard 3-month CD, which beats the best national yield of 0.60% APY.

In fact, virtually every standard CD that Chevron offers currently pays a rate that would earn it a spot on our Leaderboard if it was nationally available without membership requirements.

Unlike the promotional 15-month certificate, Chevron’s standard CD rates stipulate no expiration date.

Fortunately, qualifying for Chevron FCU membership is wide-ranging, including the following individuals:

  • Employees of Chevron Corp., its wholly owned subsidiaries and more than 1,200 affiliates and contractors.
  • Chevron Corp. retirees, including those retired from Unocal Corp., Texaco Inc. and any other Chevron merger company.
  • Immediate family members of the above individuals, as well as family members (even roommates) of current Chevron FCU members.
  • Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in, or has their business located in, most areas of San Francisco.
  • Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in, or has their business located in, Frederick County, Maryland.

Even if you don’t meet the above criteria, you can still become a Chevron member by first joining its nonprofit partner Contra Costa County Historical Society. A membership fee of $20 is required.

In addition, new members must deposit $25 into a savings account.

Both Chevron membership and CD purchases can be handled online, by phone, or in person at a branch.

Chevron operates 20 branches, located in California (8), Texas (7), Utah (2), Colorado (1), Louisiana (1) and Mississippi (1).

Note that some Chevron branches are located in restricted-access facilities, so savers who wish to purchase CDs in person should carefully note the branch information provided on Chevron’s website.
