Highest CD Rates Roundup For May 30

Bringing you the very best CD rates from credit unions and local banks.The most active month of 2014 for top nationally available CD rates ends with a bang.

There were 52 rate changes this month among the six terms we track for our CD Rates Leaderboard.

Forty-one of those changes were either rate increases or banks that joined our list for the first time.

April saw the previous high in rate changes at 31.

Today, we saw a 12-month CD rates increase from CalFirst and cuts in 36-month CD rates and 60-month CD rates from EverBank.

As for our list of the highest CD rates from credit unions and local banks, it was a quiet week. We added one new deal:

  • Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union ( pays 1.35% APY on 24-month CDs and 1.50% APY on 36-month CDs with a $40,000 minimum deposit. Credit union membership is open to savers everywhere. But you’ll have to join the Southern California Historical Aircraft Foundation first. That will cost you $50.

There were just two changes to existing deals on our list.

Howard Bank in Maryland has discontinued its 24-month CD offer and has been removed from our list. And HAB Bank cut 12-month CD rates at its New York and New Jersey branches to 0.50% APY. It’s California branches still pay 1.15% APY.
