Highest CD Rates Roundup For April 19

Bringing you the very best CD rates from credit unions and local banks. Here’s how quiet this week has been in the world of CD rates: The “big” news is what happened to the best nationally available 3-month CD rate.

It fell.

Florida-based EverBank cut its yield from 0.56% APY to 0.51% APY today. It still sits atop our CD Rates Leaderboard.

There are now just two banks that pay at least 0.50% APY on 3-month CDs to all U.S. savers.

But with rates this low, you shouldn’t bother with 3-month certificates of deposit anyway.

This week, we added two deals to our list of the highest CD rates from credit unions and local banks:

  • Health One Credit Union ( in Michigan pays 1.20% APY on 12-month CDs with a $10,000 minimum deposit; it pays a healthy 2.00% APY with a $100,000 deposit. Membership is available to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in the metro Detroit counties of Macomb, Oakland, Wayne and Washtenaw.
  • Melrose Credit Union ( in New York pays 1.96% APY on 5-year CDs and 1.46% APY on 3-year CDs, both with a $5,000 minimum deposit. These are among the best rates available nationally for those terms. Anyone can join Melrose Credit Union, regardless of where they live or work, by paying a $1 membership fee and depositing $25 in a savings account.

We saw one rate cut this week on our list.

Singing River Federal Credit Union, with branches in Alabama and Mississippi, cut 60-month CD rates by a tenth of a percentage point. You’ll earn 1.90% APY with a $1,000 deposit, 2.00% APY with a $50,000 deposit and 2.10% APy with a $100,000 deposit.

You’ll find all the top-paying deals clearly marked on our highest CD rates page, showing where they are available, with a quick link back to the original post, which includes more information on the institution and its requirements.

We’ll update this page weekly, so you’ll always know what great deals are out there from credit unions and local banks.
