Grab Top 3- And 5-Year CDs In New York

Savers who live east of Syracuse in upstate New York can take advantage of top 3- and 5-year CD rates.

GPO Federal Credit Union offers two deals that beat the best nationally available certificates of deposit on our CD Rates Leaderboard.

With a $1,000 minimum deposit, the New Hartford, N.Y.-based credit union pays:

  • 2.00% APY on 60-month CDs.
  • 1.50% APY on 36-month CDs.

The 5-year CD pays more than a tenth of a percentage point better than the best nationally available deal, while the 3-year CD is a bit better than the 1.42% APY savers anywhere can grab from CIT Bank in New York.

You must be a member to purchase these certificates of deposit.

If you’ve never bought a CD from GPO Federal Credit Union, you must do so in person at one of its seven branches. (If you’re a repeat customer, you can purchase CDs by phone.)

There are three branches in Utica, including one in St. Luke’s Hospital, as well as branches in Dolgeville, Ilion, New Hartford and Oneida.

Membership is limited to those who work or are retired from one of GPO’s more than 150 sponsored employee groups or those who live, work, worship or attend school in Annsville, Ava, Boonville, Canastota, Floyd, Florence, Forestport, Marcy, New Hartford, Oneida, Remsen, Rome, Utica and Whitestown, and in Herkimer County.
