Good Grief, More Great Iowa CD Rates?!

(Editors Note: A staff meeting has been held to discuss our recent obsession with Iowa. While we concede that Iowa banks are offering local savers some of the best CD rates in the country, four posts in less than three weeks seems excessive. Perhaps even unhealthy. So this will be the last post on Iowa CD rates until December. Maybe January. Any writer who defies this edict will be immediately transferred from Bankaholic World Headquarters to the Ottumwa office.)

Green Belt Bank & Trust has one of the most impressive lineups of CD rates we’ve seen in a long time.
The returns on its certificates of deposit beat five of the six best nationally available CD rates.
The returns on its certificates of deposit beat five of the six best nationally available CD rates you’ll find on our most recent CD Rates Leaderboard.

Its 3-month CD rate almost doubles the best nationally available rate.

And the one exception? Its 5-year CD rate falls short by a mere three-hundredths of a percentage point.

Unfortunately, these CDs must be bought in person at one of Green Belt’s branches in Iowa Falls, Ackley, Grundy Center, and Eldora.

But if you live in north central Iowa, you should absolutely take advantage of these rates, and you only need a $500 or $1,000 minimum deposit:

3-month CD: 1.60% APY

6-month CD: 1.70% APY

12-month CD: 1.90% APY

24-month CD: 2.15% APY

36-month CD: 2.40% APY

60-month CD: 3.00% APY

You can also compare Green Belt’s returns with the best CD rates from scores of other banks in our database.
