Good Buys With Next Best 5-Year CD Rates

Yesterday we ran down the five best nationally available 5-year CD rates.

These banks aren't at the very top of our rankings of the best, nationally available CD rates, but they're close and well worth considering. The banks at the very top of our rankings are paying between 3.03% APY and 2.75% APY.

But the next best rates on 60-month certificates of deposit are also well worth considering. They are:

2.70% APY: with a $5,000 minimum deposit from Heritage Bank, which has branches in Phoenix and Tempe, Ariz.

2.70% APY: with a $1,000 minimum deposit from USAA, a diversified financial company based in San Antonio.

2.65% APY: with a $5,000 minimum deposit from Colorado Federal Savings Bank, an online bank in Greenwood Village, Colo.

2.65% APY: with a $3,000 minimum deposit from NewDominion Bank, a predominantly online bank with branches in Charlotte and Mooresville, N.C.

The difference between what you’d earn with these banks, and the ones paying 2.75% APY is only about $2 over the course of the entire five years.

You must “join” USAA by filling out an online application before you can buy one of its CDs, but there’s no membership fee.

Compare these returns with the best CD ratesfrom scores of banks in our database.
