This checking account promotion is a better deal imo - obviously the minimum is much smaller, and the interest you're going to get on a 12-month CD (assuming 2.26 APY - the best available this morning on BankRate.com) is $113.16. This TV's retail is approximately $300. If I had the $20k, I'd ladder the money in differing CD lengths. Application process was nice and easy. Transfer of funds was done directly thru bank transfer (which I much preferred) instead of sending in a deposit check. Pretty simply thus far. Great deal.
