Georgia Deal: 1.76%, 24-Month CD Rates

A Georgia bank’s deal on 24-month CD rates looked good before Salem Five Savings Bank cut its rates.

Now it looks even better.

First Federal Savings and Loan of Valdosta is offering great CD ratesFirst Federal Savings and Loan of Valdosta is offering 1.76% APY on 24-month CD rates with a $1,000 minimum deposit.

That beats the best nationally available deal by a tenth of a percentage point.

Queens, N.Y.-based Melrose Credit Union is offering 2-year certificates of deposit at 1.66% APY with a $5,000 minimum deposit.

First Federal has offered competitive CD rates to savers in southern Georgia for some time now. We last reported in October the bank’s top local offer for 3- and 6-month CDs.

This time around, First Federal also offers great rates on:

  • 3-month CDs at 1.46% APY (top nationally available rate is 0.80% APY)
  • 6-month CDs at 1.46% APY (top nationally available rate is 1.15% APY)
  • 12-month CDs at 1.56% APY (top nationally available rate is 1.45% APY)
  • 13-month CDs at 1.66% APY

All of these deals require a $1,000 minimum deposit. Interest does not compound on the 3- and 6-month CDs.

You can only buy these CDs at one of First Federal’s three branches — two in Valdosta and one in Lake Park, Ga. — and only if you live within 50 miles of the bank.

Compare these returns with the best CD rates from scores of banks in our extensive database.
