Take a look – Citi has a new account to complement the eSavings. It’s called the ultimate savings account. Costs you 10 bps (its only pays 4.65%) but you don;t have to open a checking account. Citi must have been hearing that people were not opening becuase they didn;t want the hassle of opening a checking account.

I don’t see an e-mail address for you, so I’ll post this here: I just wanted to let you know that Bankaholic has been added to my financial news/deals website at New Finance Deals is an aggregator that lists headlines and short excerpts of the most recent posts from some of my favorite financial websites (like Bankaholic), and then links back to the original post. If for whatever reason you don’t want to be on New Finance Deals, please let me know at the e-mail I left, and I’ll remove you. Thanks!

Oh nice another online savings account bonus. btw have you checked out etrades $25 bonus for signing up for their online savings account. It’s less of a bonus but they offer 5.05% on their accounts.

Beware! I found out these guys pulled my credit file when I opened this account. I thought this was a bit extreme for opening a savings account. If you are in a sensitive credit situation you may want to skip on this offer.

Yeah, the new offer is $50 bonus for the Ultimate Savings account with a 4.75% APY.

OK the $50 account is worth about 1% interest on a $5000 for one year (I’m not taking account of any possible tax differential between interest and incentives). So for example the Washington Mutual deal at 6% ( ) out performs this at $4000 ( 50 / 1.25% ).
