For All Savers: 46-Month CD Pays 2.05%

light bulb with a dollar signFort Knox Federal Credit Union has special 46-month CD rates available to savers everywhere.

It pays 2.05% APY with a $500 minimum deposit.

That’s miles above the top nationally available 36-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard, which is stuck at 1.45% APY.

You have to be a member of Fort Knox Federal Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit, but anyone can qualify for membership by first joining the American Consumer Council.

From the CD rates page, click “open online” and then follow the instructions for nonmembers. When you’re asked for “Eligibility Criteria,” select “other” from the pull-down menu.

When you complete the application, the credit union will automatically enroll you in the consumer advocacy group, and you’ll be able to buy CDs as part of the application process.

Membership in the American Consumer Council is free. Joining the credit union will cost you $15 – a $10 membership fee and a $5 deposit into a share savings account.

Of course, you don’t need to bother with the American Consumer Council if you’re active duty or retired military; live, work, worship, attend school or regularly do business in Boyle, Breckenridge, Grayson, Hart, LaRue, Meade, Nelson or Taylor counties; or are the relative of someone eligible to become a member.

Members can buy CDs online, over the phone or at one of Fort Knox Federal Credit Union’s 14 branches surrounding the military base and the nation’s gold repository in central Kentucky.
