Flagstar Offers Most Savers Top CD Rate

If you don’t have a Flagstar Bank down the street, you can qualify for one of the best 36-month CD rates around.

Flagstar is paying 3.00% APY with a $500 minimum deposit to anyone who doesn’t live near one of its 180 branches in Michigan, Indiana and Georgia.

If you don't live near one of the banks 180 branches, you can buy a 36-month CD paying 3.00% APY online. If you drive by a Flagstar office on your way to work every day, you’ll have to settle for a good, but not top drawer, 2.75% APY.

Flagstar’s 3.00% APY beats the best deal in our latest ranking of the best 36-month CD rates — 2.90% APY from Intervest National Bank.

But because it isn’t available nationwide — an unfortunate situation for all those savers in places like Detroit, Indianapolis and Atlanta– we can’t include it in our rankings.

Thanks for the info. Is there any chance Bankaholic could do an updated “best reward program credit card review” in the near future? I am hearing that changes are in the works for my Chase Freedom card (dropping the 3% categories & the 250 for 200 bonus). Discover has increase the threshold to redeem for cash to $50. So, it is time to shop around again for the best reward program for a lot of us.
