Tax efficiency of investments is an often overlooked area of portfolio planning, but should not be the main driver of your investment decisions. You need to focus on what is the right investment strategy for you personally as everyone has a unique financial situation. Once that is determined they you can explore the range of investment options that fit inside your own strategy. Tax consequences is a factor, but needs to be balanced against the actual return value of the investment thesis. Mutual funds on average under-perform the market indexes, and better investment options do exist.
