		<description>rent or buy in NYC is really tough question and the price of homes have not gone down in NY ....it sucks I need more space , and more money I am scared that I may bit too much than I can handle besides I am still young I dont want to feel tied down to my job bc I need to pay my mortage ....</description>

With home prices going down it only makes sense that you aren&#039;t going to build equity right now. As far as needing a tax break - not necessarily true. If you pay mostly cash for your house you may be losing a higher tax break BUT the money you save (in interest) far outweighs any tax break. In other words if you pay $1500/mo interest vs. $500 it is better to have the $1000/mo in your pocket or for investments rather than get a meager so-called tax break. Still looking for an answer as to buy vs. rent in TODAY&#039;S market.</description>
