Real estate will rebound in the long run. You might want to consider a REIT instead of a fund, but I might suggest the Davis Real Estate fund. Davis funds have always performed well over time and are very soundly managed.

Well, I am thinking of opening a self directed IRA for real estate investing. It seemed very attractive to me, but your article scared me and it doesn't seem as rosy anymore. How can I trust mutual funds owning real estate in such a down turn?
