East Coast Deal On 3-Year CDs

finger touching calculator keysSharonview Federal Credit Union has top 36-month CD rates for its 65,000 members in the Carolinas and New Jersey.

It pays 1.50% APY with a $10,000 minimum deposit.

That matches the top nationally available 36-month CD rate on our CD Rates Leaderboard But there’s a way to grab an even higher rate.

Depositing a minimum of a $100,000 bumps the 36-month rate a quarter of a percentage point, to the jumbo rate of 1.75% APY.

That minimum deposit will also earn you 2.00% APY for 60-month CDs.

You have to be a member of Sharonview Federal Credit Union to buy these certificates of deposit. Geographically, membership is available to those who live, work or attend school in the greater Charlotte, Salisbury, Shelby and Wilmington areas in North Carolina, and in the greater Greenville, S.C., area.

The credit union also has more than 500 sponsor companies, which are not listed on the website. You have to call or check with your human resources department to verify eligibility that way, specifically if you live near a New Jersey branch.

Membership requires a $5 deposit in a savings account.

Members can buy CDs online, over the phone or in person at one of Sharonview Federal Credit Union’s 18 branches.

Those are in Charlotte, Fayetteville, Mt. Holly, Salisbury, Shelby, Tar Heel, and Wilmington, N.C.; Bedminster and Bridgewater, N.J.; and Florence, Greenville, Greer, Simpsonville and Spartanburg, S.C.
