Don’t Miss These Nationwide Deals on 6- and 18-Month CDs From Andrews FCU

Andrews Federal Credit Union may be celebrating Military Appreciation Month with two fantastic CD offers, but you don’t have to be a military saver to get in on the action.

For the month of May, Andrews is running the following pair of promotions:

  • 6-month certificates at 3.00% APY for civilians, 3.25% for those with military affiliation.
  • 18-month certificates at 2.00% APY for civilians, 2.25% for military.

Both require a minimum deposit of $1,000 in new money and also stipulate a maximum investment of $15,000. They are also limited to just one promotional certificate per member.

The top nationally available rates from the banks on our CD Rates Leaderboard currently range from 1.05% to 1.50% APY for 6- to 24-month certificates, so both of the Andrews deals offer a significant earnings edge.

A search of Bankrate’s extensive database of the day’s best CD rates around the country will likely further confirm how stellar these rates are.

In addition to serving residents of Washington, D.C., select military personnel and employees of 200 affiliated organizations, Andrews membership is available to any saver in the country who is a member of the American Consumer Council.

You do have to join the ACC first and obtain a membership number that you then enter on your Andrews application. The cost to join ACC is $5.

There is one additional wrinkle to opening this CD with Andrews, if you’re not already a member of the credit union.

When joining online, you’ll be limited to transferring $1,005 or less from another institution, so for those wanting to invest more than that in one of these CDs, you’ll need a work-around.

First, establish your membership and a savings account with your required $5 deposit. Once that’s set up and funded, the $1,005 limit will no longer apply for external transfers, meaning you can later transfer whatever funds you want invested in the CD from another bank into your savings account.

Once the funds are in your Andrews savings, you can then use them to open one of the promotional certificates of deposit.
