“up to” is an appeal to ignorance. Don’t bother reading anything into those ads. Just like department store clearance sales, up to 70% off, yes and thats going to be on 1 item that doesn’t sell, nobody wants. The banks are just like organized crime that the law has a hard time catching up with. If they want your money, they’ll take it by changing the rules in the middle of the game. Most of these banks do it all the time.

Is anyone aware of a fuel gas credit card that prompts for vehicle mileage at the pump, then displays the vehicle fuel economy MPG in the monthly statement? I’m trying to track my annual fuel costs, miles driven and MPG. Fleet cards will do this, but I’m having trouble finding a personal card with this feature without paying a ~$120 per year in card fees.

Help anyone? Anyone?

Watch out on SUNOCO.
Some stations have cash and Sunoco vs credit prices.
Only problem is that the Sunoco CitiRewards (4%) rebate card doesn’t get the cash price.

Some stations are giving me the cash back inside, but you need to ask. I probably should post this to the FL consumer protection folks as something similar to a bait and switch.

I have had a Discover card for years and recently the cashback amounts have been reduced (as most cards are). I thought everything was 1% and some categories 5% when you sign up for the special category. Well, the 1% is now gone on all other categories. I’m only earning .25% on my purchases other than the categories. Pay attention to the statement UP TO 1% cash back on the details about the Discover reward cards.

Some quarterly 5% changing catgories aren’t common ones, such as theme parks, car rental, etc. I’m no longer using my Discover card after the reduction to .25% reward on all other categories (except for the special quarterly ones you have to sign-up for) without even notifying me. Bad business discover for not notifying customers.

I do agree with all the negitive comments about Chase Credit Cards. I have had the same experience with them as most of the comments listed here. It was with great pleasure when I notified them to put their card where the sun does not shine. I found a great Visa card with Pentagon Fedral Credit Union.

I wish these ratings sites would also publish the fact that several of these rebate cards rotate their rewards calendars so you have to shop for something like gas during march to july or other period. This just doesnt work for me. Discover More and Chase Freedom both do this. At this point I am using my Shell Citibank card which gives 1% rebate for all purchases and 5% for their Shell gasoline. It’s pretty good and the site is easy to use. I pay my bill automatically every month in full.

I got my Citi Mastercard for Shell two years ago. On October 15, 2009, I made a payment on the account (as I usually do twice a month). On October 19, 2009, I went to get gas at the Shell station and it did not go thru. Customer Service told me my account is closed because my FICO score went down. I received notice on 10-27-09 that their credit criteria had changed. I have never had a late payment on this account. In fact, all of my accounts are current. It seems to me that these credit companies and credit card companies are SCAMing the very people that support them. There was time when I regarded CITI and WELLS FARGO as friendly businesses. I WILL NO LONGER DO BUSINESS WITH EITHER COMPANY. It is sad that companies of this size and stature still rely on outdated credit company “scores”. Even worse is that these credit companies will not reveal the “nature” of how the “scores” are calculated. In these times of CREDIT, I think I will return to the old adage “CASH IS KING”

Don’t bother applying for the bp card unless you make late payments And incur finance charges! I was rejected because I always pay on time, and dont carry a balance,; chase said they can’t control what their partners are advertising, so are turning down apps that they deem to be unprofitable. There ought to be a law! I hope that Obama will get a tighter noose around cc co.s and banks!.
