Connecticut Deal: 1.25% On 7½-Month CD

Connecticut savers looking for a great short-term yield while waiting for the Fed’s rate hike have an excellent option in Connex Credit Union.

To celebrate its 75th anniversary, Connex is paying 1.25% APY on 7½-month CDs through the end of this month.

It’s almost enough to match the top nationally available 12-month rate from the banks on our CD Rates Leaderboard, which is currently 1.30% APY.

A search through Bankrate’s database of the best CD rates from around the country will also show you how few rates like this are available for terms under a year.

Connex does impose a few rules on this promotional certificate. The minimum deposit of $500 must be met with new money, or funds not already on deposit with Connex.

Also, members are limited to just one anniversary CD per household, with the offer expiring Oct. 31.

Anyone who lives or works in New Haven, Hartford or Middlesex counties can join in person or online.

But the anniversary certificate of deposit requires visiting one of Connex’s seven branches in New Haven, Branford, Guilford, Hamden, Meriden, North Haven and Orange.
