Citi is a cheat bank!!!!!
I signed up for there 16K thankyou points if you open a checking acct and meet xyz conditions (which takes 3 months to meet btw). They haven't still creadited me the points though I met all the conditions.
The customer care reps are clueless when you call them, as if they didn't know a thing about the offer. The only thing they keep saying is wait for 120 days to complete (since there is fine print somewhere saying that you will get your points within 120 days).

So its 3 months for meeting the conditions + 4-months for points to get credited - so atleast 7 months before you get your points which BS. What is more BS is its been 9 months for me and I am still being bounced around by Citi reps.

And this isn't a one off thing either. My gf got a similar deal where they had a 25K thankyou points offer and its almost been 10 months since she signed up for that deal and still hasn't got the points.

GetReal might start on his path to getting rich himself if he could figure out the implied interest rate on receiving $25 for depositing $1000 in a 3 month commitment. Alternatively maybe he has some secret sauce yield that he gets for keeping his money under the mattress

I opened a, “New Wave” Checking account at Flagstar Bank. All I have to do is have a direct deposit each month ($250) and use my debit card 15 times per month (that’s hard) and they pay me $6/Month. Plus they gave me $100 to open the account (and establish the direct deposit) Not bad, $172 this year and $72 per year thereafter.

Why can't Bankrate.com afford to hire a decent writer? Mr. Wu is MIA now that he is rich. I would be also.

This is a good deal considering many CDs being offered right now are actually at lower rates than online savings accounts. You can usually take money out of savings accounts at anytime without penalties (there are sometimes limits to the number of withdrawals though after which you may incur a service charge.)

The feds should have taken that 700 billion and split it up equally amongst every citizen and we the people would have gotten this economy rolling again. Instead the government sold out my children’s future with debt to give to the greedy banks to horde and stroke wall street.

What a mess. Our government is as corrupt as the thilthy wall street crooks who got us in this mess. I refuse to give any bank a dime of my savings, just a checking account for my daily needs and bills.

Offering $25 for me to let you have $1000 of my money to play with, what an insult. Who in their right mind thinks that is a good deal?

$25 buys a decent lunch :-) However with interest rates going south one should really withdraw their money and put them in more profitable offers.
